Gustavo Balart Defeats Yosuke Saruta; Ranked #4 Strawweight
Posted on May 20, 2022 Leave a Comment
Victory for Gustavo ‘El Gladiador’ Balart at ONE Championship 156: Eersel vs Sadikovic was enough to establish the Cuban as the #4 ranked ONE Championship strawweight, a career-best for the 4’11 Greco-Roman gold medallist.
A hard-fought bout against former ONE Championship Strawweight Champion Yosuke Saruta saw Balart put in a career best performance, building on his win over the highly-rated Ryuto Sawada in July of 2021. A rearranged fight, Balart-Saruta was originally scheduled to take place in February at ONE: Bad Blood, only for Saruta to test positive for Coronavirus just two days out. With the anticipation cranked up by the unfortunate postponement, neither fighter was willing to accept defeat – but in the end, Balart’s boxing and creative striking earned him the win on the judge’s scorecards.
Balart now finds himself within close proximity of a title shot, and will be eager to extend his winning streak in his next outing.

Gustavo Balart Wins Big at ONE: Battleground Against Ryuto ‘Dragon Boy’ Sawada!

Olympic Greco Roman wrestler and Pan American gold medallist Gustavo ‘El Gladiador’ Balart recorded a huge win at ONE Championship’s ‘Battleground’ event, besting top-ranked Japenese competitor Ryuto ‘Dragon Boy’ Sawada across all three scorecards.
Balart, who has waged wars in the ONE cage against the likes of Tatsumitsu Wada and Chan Rothana, came in determined to make his mark in the ONE Championship Strawweight division – and did JUST THAT!
A blur of creative and innovative strikes set up Balart’s patented wrestling offence, while the Cuban mixed in devastating knees on the ground to further incapacitate Sawada.
Balart now has his eyes set on 2022, as he looks to make a run for ONE Championship gold!
Gustavo ‘El Gladiador’ Balart Going to War Against Ryuto ‘Dragon Boy’ Sawada!

Cuban Olympian and Pan-American gold medallist Gustavo ‘El Gladiador’ Balart will look to send a message to the ONE Championship Strawweight division this Friday July 30 by dispatching Japanese Jiu Jitsu ace Ryuto ‘Dragon Boy’ Sawada!
Crowd-pleasing fan favourite Balart will chase a statement victory in the form of one of the division’s top contenders – and will look to make the most of an intensive training camp at one of the world’s finest facilities in Coconut Creek, Florida’s American Top Team gymnasium.
Sawada presents a real submission threat, but getting past Balart’s credentialed wrestling should prove troublesome for the Japanese combatant; Gustavo, who has scored some of the most breath-taking slams in ONE Championship history, will look to dictate the pace and format of the fight en route to a career-best win.
Look for ‘El Gladiador’s’ scorching right hand to test the stand up capabilities of ‘Dragon Boy’ in what will almost certainly be a contender for Fight of the Night!

Charlie Milner Makes BKB Debut, Stops Veteran Antagonist Eric Olsen!

Some call Eric ‘Bloodaxe’ Olsen the ‘most controversial man in Bare Knuckle Boxing’. MyMMANews.com described Olsen as ‘more hated than Colby Covington, more brash than Chael Sonnen’ – hyperbole or not, Olsen is credited as a pioneer of Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB), and represented a dangerous venture for 4-1 British MMA heavyweight Charlie ‘Kung Fu Panda’ Milner.
Sussex-based Milner, however, had no interest feeding into the mind games of the ever-expressive Olsen, and quickly dispatched the well-travelled American, letting his hands do the talking.
Milner, who some have labelled as a wrestling-based fighter in recent times, showed that boxing is and always has been at the heart of his development as a professional fighter, showing good footwork, shot selection, and fearsome power. Overmatched, Olsen was left busted up by the calm and composed technical style of Milner, who managed to avoid much damage and add another victory to his exciting start as a professional fighter.
If this display is anything to go by, the ever-hungry Charlie Milner will be a force to be reckoned with not only in MMA, but also in BKB in the coming months and years!
